SPARK Community Highlights #2 – March

As the season continues, we too continue our exploration of some of our favorite moments from the 2022 edition of the .strandberg* SPARK program! SPARK is a one-of-a-kind community project, creative competition, and the official Facebook community for anything and everything related to .strandberg* Guitars, where group members create and post original content based on creative prompts in order to win prizes.

Topics for this second highlight installment include #3-4or6-8, #HiddenTreasure, #FlyMeToTheMoon, and #OneTake. Enjoy this handful of our favorite SPARK highlights since March!

Benjamin Langels

#HiddenTreasure by Benjamin Langels

For the topic of #HiddenTreasure, Benjamin Langels designed this incredible map of a faraway place known as Strandberg Isle! Complete with various terrain and inhabitants, the map depicts the different regions where all of the .strandberg* signature artists reside. Can you find them all?

From Benjamin:

“Welcome to Strandberg Isle. Where Ola stores all his signature artists! Maybe you can identify each of their homes 🙂
Plini The Pirate seems to have hidden a Plini Dubloon™️ somewhere as well.. 🏴‍☠️”

Benedek Suri

#HiddenTreasure by Benedek Suri

For the topic of #HiddenTreasure, Benedek Suri created a printed .strandberg*-themed card game, inspired by Cards Against Humanity. The game is called Spark For Creativity and is designed to help inspire players to find the most interesting combination of words possible. See Benedek’s explanation below, and then print out the game and play for yourself!

From Benedek:

For us musicians the greatest treasure is an idea we can start working with. This is often hard to find but I brought you a card game called “Spark for Creativity”, similar to the well known game: “Cards Against humanity” to give you a helping hand.
Gameplay (see instruction video with example):
To start a game, the player draws a black card.
The player gets five green cards. Then he can decide which green cards he pairs with the main sentence (black card).
Important: if the player does not find any variation of the cards suitable, he can request a new round.
The goal of the game is to have fun, discover new ideas and find treasures hidden deep inside us.
How to play together:
Let’s try this game together, you can either print it or simply request a draw virtually on this link.

(hit refresh for new draw)
Comment your funniest variations!.
PS: The game was designed not to harm anyone but I couldn’t test all the combinations so please use it with respect to each other.

Bryan Aguilar

For the topic of #OneTake, Bryan Aguilar recorded himself playing a song by the mighty guitar duo Tom Quayle and Martin Miller. As the topic suggests, Bryan recorded himself playing the part in only one, unedited take. We think he did a great job, all things considered, and truly captured the SPARK spirit of pushing yourself creatively!

From Bryan:

Greetings, in this entry I decided to record myself playing something by Tom Quayle and Martín Miller, they are a brutal duo; It is somewhat difficult to record you and upload it the first time haha I always record about 20 and I still can’t decide on one 😂😂😂

Aditya Mhatre

For the topic of #3-4or6-8, Aditya Mhatre filmed himself playing an original, instrumental composition on his Boden Prog NX 6. The song is in 3/4 and features some gorgeous melodies and melodic layers. From the mesmerizing song to the beautifully-shot and edited video, this was one of our favorite entries for this topic.

Benjamin Langels

#FlyMeToTheMoon by Benjamin Langels

Another stellar entry from Benjamin Langels, Benjamin 3D-printed these “Plini Dubloon” coins for the topic of #FlyMeToTheMoon! As Benjamin mentions below, these new coins are meant to harken back to the days of yore, reminding us of “swashbuckling guitar riffs and sweet, plunderin’ solos”, and we think his entry is out of this world.

From Benjamin:

Introducing: “The Plini Dubloon” 🏴‍☠️
With all the economic collapse going around. I have decided to introduce a new currency to the market.
Gone are the days of Metaverseses, NFTs and cryptocurrency. I will take us back to the good old days of cold hard steel, swashbuckling guitar riffs and sweet, plunderin’ solos!
Available in both fools gold and silver, the Plini Dubloon™ will revolutionize the market! Get in while the gettin’s good!
Shiver me timbers!
(Will trade for all Plini guitar models)

Jack Bram

And finally, for the topic of #3-4or6-8, Jack Bram created this wonderful and highly-catchy children’s song to help remember the differences between 3/4 and 6/8 time signatures! If you couldn’t tell them apart before, you definitely will be able to after a single listen through this song. Follow along with the lyrics below!

From Benjamin:

For this entry, I wrote a children’s song to teach people the difference between these time signatures!
Lyrics:
3/4 and 6/8 are the same thing
Just divided differently
3/4 has 3 big beats
6/8 has 6 small beats
We will count it and you’ll see
3/4 and 6/8 are the same thing
Just divided differently
3/4 has 3 big beats
6/8 has 6 small beats
We will switch and then you’ll see
3/4 and 6/8 are the same thing
Just divided differently
3/4 has 3 big beats
6/8 has 6 small beats that are grouped in groups of 3

What is SPARK?

.strandberg* Spark is a one-of-a-kind community project, creative competition, and the official Facebook community for anything and everything related to .strandberg* Guitars, where group members create and post original content based on creative prompts in order to win prizes.

The basis for the group is simple: every two weeks, our Spark admin team crafts two topics that are meant to stir the creative juices of group participants, who then contribute their creative spin on the current topics. Each member can post one contribution per topic (two submissions every two weeks) and can be awarded up to 10 points per submission. Each submission is judged by the Spark admin team and judging is based on the creativity, originality, and overall quality of the submission. The first 4 participants who earn 200 points or more from the jury in the 2022 season will receive a .strandberg* Boden Classic or Standard of their choice for free, and among all other participants who have received points, another .strandberg* guitar will be raffled off at the end of the season.

Spark members are highly encouraged to use any creative resource to come up with their interpretation of the current topics; it’s not just limited to guitar videos, but can be poetry, mixed media, art, fashion, or just about anything you find relevant to the topics presented — the only limit is your creativity!
