I love the ergonomics, the workmanship is still poor

I truly love the Strandberg design. I’ve been obsessed with it from the day I saw it back when Ola still supported diy clones. To this point I have purchased 4 Strandbergs and returned all but one for poor workmanship and other problems. This latest one has rough patches in the neck that I suspect was caused by resting the neck on a fixture while the finish wasn’t fully cured. It was too distracting while playing around fret 3-5. Also I find the passive pickups to me excessively noisy. This can be a bit subjective but I compared with my fishman fluence Strandberg in both single coil and humbucking mode, and a passive humbucking hollow body Ibanez, and this new passive guitar is substantially noisier than any other configuration. In all positions other than neck/bridge humbucker the noise level is far lower. I kind of think the pickups are wired incorrectly but a standard model I bought and returned last year also had extremely noisy pickups so maybe there’s something else going on. It’s too bad because the neck heel is great on the new NX line and the upgrade to the string locks was needed. I can’t get my head around how something as basic as neck finish gets messed up and through QA on such an expensive instrument. I also have to say the body finish didn’t look as nice as the web site showed but I wasn’t even considering returning it over that. At this point I don’t think I’ll be able to buy another Strandberg online. If I come across one in a retail store and it’s in good working order I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it but I’m done getting my hopes up on new models only to be disappointed.

.strandberg* Guitars

Thanks for your honest review, Brian. I'm very sorry to hear that you didn't have a great experience with the guitar and had to return it. However, I hope you will give us another chance again in the future, and hopefully you'll see that this experience was not the norm.

The body shape provides multiple seated playing positions for maximum comfort and versatility.

scale_lengths_bullet_round

Scale Lengths Adapted to You

A multi-scale design allows your wrist to remain relaxed throughout the range of play. A longer scale length for the heavier strings provide better tone, and shorter in the thinner strings better playability.
