The J Artisan Series

What makes it special?

The ‘J Artisan’ instruments are the results of a long collaboration between Ola Strandberg and legendary Japanese master builder Nick “Sugi” Sugimoto. From the same hands as the sought-after ‘J Custom’ and ‘Master Artist’ .strandberg* guitars, the ‘J Artisan’ series is an exclusive one-year run of the finest .strandberg* guitars featuring the highest-grade woods, premium hardware, premium electronics, and the epitome of craftsmanship to represent the pinnacle of the .strandberg* design.

What does it do?

The goal of the ‘J Artisan’ was to push the limits in the realm of ultra-high-end instruments for the tone connoisseurs and collectors who seek the very best in materials and workmanship. Exquisite and exotic woods provide not only alluring visual beauty, but also complex acoustic characteristics not typically found in mass production instruments. The result is an instrument that imparts a sophisticated and woody feel, natural acoustic tonal character, and fast and smooth playability. The Suhr™ Hot 7 pickups perfectly complement the acoustic character and represent some of the best pickups in the industry.

Who is it for?

The J Artisan instruments are for the forward-thinking musicians, tone connoisseurs, and collectors of fine instruments who seek the very best in materials, workmanship, playability, and sound. These guitars are for the players who want to experience the highest possible quality, sublime aesthetic beauty, exceptional playability, and unique sonic character that is the .strandberg* design realized without limits.

The 4th run of Boden J Artisan is designed to be the ultimate extended-range guitar and features the .strandberg* EGS Rev7 7-string tremolo system to explore the subsonic terrains of modern music and provide exceptional versatility. The body is premium-grade Swamp Ash topped off with a solid Buckeye top adorned with resin fill in three stunning color options. The neck is constructed of Wenge with Purple Heart fillets for beauty and rock-solid stability and has an oil finish for a fast and smooth feel. The three fretboard options of Wenge, Birdseye Maple, and Ebony each provide a unique visual and sonic match to the body. The complex and rich acoustic characteristics of these instruments are faithfully captured by a set of Suhr™ Hot 7 Humbucking pickups with push-pull coil-split functionality on the tone control for tonal versatility. All J Artisan guitars are delivered in the heavily padded .strandberg* Deluxe Gig Bag and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, a .strandberg* VitalGrip Guitar strap, a .strandberg* wall hanger, and an Allen Key kit.

Versatile Body Shape

The body shape provides multiple seated playing positions for maximum comfort and versatility.

scale_lengths_bullet_round

Scale Lengths Adapted to You

A multi-scale design allows your wrist to remain relaxed throughout the range of play. A longer scale length for the heavier strings provide better tone, and shorter in the thinner strings better playability.

Space Age Materials

Our hunt for great tone and low weight led us to using aircraft grade aluminium and carbon fiber for maximum performance.

Proprietary Hardware

The custom .strandberg* hardware is a vital contributor to the tone of the instrument. Lightweight aircraft grade aluminium and tight coupling of components ensure that nothing prevents the strings' vibrations from entering the body.
