During the course of manufacturing of this guitar model, the color of the roasted maple has varied to some degree. The wood is roasted to achieve the desired properties (tonal response and dimensional stability in different weather conditions) and not to a certain color. This means that the color sometimes does not match that of the product photos, which were taken of the first produced sample guitars. We are working on a revised process and acquiring new equipment for roasting maple that will give us greater control of the results, which should be in place in early 2021. Until then, if you have any concerns about the color of the roasted maple neck or fretboard before ordering, please reach out to us through the contact form at the bottom of this page, and we will be happy to send you a photo in advance, or talk you through the process. The only problem I've found is that after now owning a strandberg, pretty much every other guitar I own is a chore to play and I subsequentally will be selling them! I have a wrist injury, so long practice sessions have been a thing of the past, however the ergonomics of the neck, fanned frets, and weight of the guitar allow me to play for so much longer. It's rejuvenated my love for playing. Originally I bought for metal/rock, but it's incredibly versatile and does anything I need it to, and I don't really see myself playing another guitar for a long time, if ever. Build quality is great, no issues out of the box, didn't even need a set-up. Honestly couldn't be happier!
Thanks for the kind words, Conor - it's great to hear that you are able to play more! /Ola
The Boden Original 7 was purchased without trying it before: I found many positive reviews on the web and decided to try, outcome has been extremely positive. Design is really gorgeous, neck profile and variable scale turned to be exceptionally comfortable: instrument is certainly a high quality one, craftsmanship and care of details can be immediately appreciated. I am a super fan of ebony fingerboards, however the roasted Birdseye one resulted really bright too. The most surprising feature has been the combination of light weight and the richness of the tone, it’s absolutely beautiful and versatile.
Great to hear that you enjoyed the Boden Original, Simone, and thanks for the 5 star rating! /Ola
Finally I got my senses together and got a Boden 7 Original. I had a few concerns: Will the neck fit me, will the shape feel odd and, this might sound especially strange, will it be to much „art“? I don't really like over flashy guitar tops but like to see the wood. Well the answers came through quite quickly. The neck is of course different but great to play, the shape feels natural and it looks just great, I would note rate it a AAAA top, but this is exactly what I wanted. The sound is just pure clarity and definition. A great player. The ergonomics of the guitar, but also the strap and the gigbag is just pure engineering art. Being a researcher in muskuloskeletal biomechanics I really appreciate that this guitar is taking the game to new level and it all just makes sense. I'm looking forward to have a look in the lab on how the guitar affects the player... But this is just for nerds. What a great piece of gear. I should have bought it earlier.
Thanks for the 5 stars, Sebastian - it's great to hear that it all makes sense to you! I would actually really love to hear about how it performs in the lab - please get in touch with us and let us know. /Ola
Sounds, looks, feels great but had a lot of issues for amount of time I’ve had it. The action needs to be high otherwise buzzing and creaking happens, small pieces seem to have fallen off while I play and my gig bag zipper partly broke the first day. Good guitar but expected more ease for the price.
I'm sorry to hear that you are not entirely happy with your purchase! I note that you haven't been in touch with our support to discuss any of your issues, so I can't really comment. Please do send us an e-mail to [email protected] and I hope we can get you to a point where your guitar plays better than this. /Ola
The guitar arrived well packed, in pristine condition, and really nicely set up. It's a joy to hold, to look at, and to play for hours.
Thanks for the 5 stars, Aaron! I hope you will continue enjoying the Boden Original 7! /Ola
