Designed and engineered to meet the exacting specs and requirements as requested by Plini, the .strandberg* Plini Edition humbuckers cover a very broad range of sounds as evidenced by the music and sounds heard on Plini’s albums. Based loosely on the Original model humbuckers, we worked closely with Plini and Michael Frank developing the prototypes that Plini used in guitars for world tours and various recording sessions. A special feature is the magnet polarities being reversed in each humbucker to achieve noise-canceling with the two outside coils in the middle position. The result is a set of humbucker pickups exactly as Plini envisioned for his particular requirement of providing a wide range of tones while being exceptionally dynamic and responsive in a simple 3-way switch dual humbucker setup.

You get your best sound when you have razor-sharp focus on your music and your playing, not fiddling with gear or wondering if it’s delivering what you envision. We’ve done the work to provide the pickups that bring out the very best in a .strandberg* guitar so you can focus on your playing. Together with Michael Frank, we spent three years testing various prototypes and having our world class artists take them out on the road or to recording sessions to get their “real world” feedback. After countless tweaks, fine-tuning and revisions of each pickup model, the .strandberg* pickups are now ready to take your .strandberg* guitar and your playing to the highest level.

The bridge humbucker has medium-hot output that is extremely dynamic and is very responsive to volume pot changes. The neck humbucker has a lower output vintage-style voicing and matches perfectly with the output of the hotter bridge humbucker. The polarity of the coils of these pickups are also reversed from the standard polarity to achieve noise-cancellation in Plini’s custom 3-way wiring setup. The coils of both humbuckers are also custom-wound to get higher output from the middle single-coil position, providing excellent tonal versatility in a simple minimalistic configuration.
