I've had this guitar for a month now so I've had some time to evaluate it properly. This is my first Strandberg and I have to say I'm very very happy with this guitar!! First off it is insanely comfortable to play! The Endurneck is fantastic and plays like butter. The Thru-Neck joint really feels incredible up the dusty end of the neck! :) The guitar is also incredibly light and balanced which adds to the playability of the instrument over long periods. For instance, when working if I'm not actually playing something I'd take a guitar off. This one I just leave on! :) Tonally the guitar is really well balanced with a versatile range of sounds. It's a bit darker than I expected but I like it! It's pretty punchy with a lot of attack and sustain. Comparatively I'd say a bit like a 335! So overall a great combination of forward thinking design and engineering balanced perfectly with playability and musicality. So would I buy another Strandberg? Yes I would!! :)
Toby, thanks for the great review, we're happy that it worked out for you! You nailed the big selling points of the neckthrough with comfort and low weight.
When you odred this kind of stuff it's always hard to wait having it delivered ;-) But that was very fast! And now that I have it it's "difficult" to play with my other guitars as it is so much ergonomic. Don't mention the look.
When I first received the guitar, I had a few complaints I would consider quality control issues. I reached out to support and they guided me to a solution that worked for both parties. It was a pleasant exchange. The only thing I wish was different is a chat option. E-mail support is inherently slow and stretches a conversation that can be had in minutes over days. On to the instrument itself. My old number 1 was a .Strandberg* Boden Classic. An amazing guitar for half the price. So what makes a Fusion NT worth it? You don’t really need to drop this amount of money to get a great playing instrument, but this model has everything that makes a .Strandberg* great and more. It has different resonance to it played acoustically (maybe because of the chambering and neck-thru?), it has a beautiful maple top, the best looking finish yet (in my opinion), extremely versatile tonal options and most importantly the neck-thru design with unbelievable high-fret access. All that while being super ergonomic, lightweight and portable. It has everything I could really ask for in an instrument and like the title says: It’s all I really need, but very likely not all I’ll ever want. This is probably not the last .Strandberg* I’m buying. I have unfortunately run into QC issues and I hope I was just particularly unlucky, but I want to continue to support the unique innovation and philosophy of this company and even if I didn’t, their guitars left me unable to play traditional guitars as my main axes.
Unbelievable, I got comfortable with the neck in NO TIME, it felt just so natural for my hands. I prefer 'V' profile necks and the EndurNeck feels like a 'Hard V' with asymmetric extrusion (if that makes any sense :)). Pickup configuration is great too, probably the best 'SuperStrat' configuration I ever found. With it I can cover low gain strat tones and more gainy sounds with no changes in signal chain. Replacing the selector middle position to use Neck+Bridge single coils also helps a lot reaching sonic variation. Well done Ola!
Being my 3rd Strandberg, I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. But I wasn't expecting this one to be my favorite and overall best guitar I ever had. It is light, comfortable, the endureneck is awesome, fret access is as good as my EBMM Majesty, stays in tune and sounds terrific. Compared to a bolt-on Boden it sounds a bit less snappy and more mid focused. Notes seem to really pop out when played. Sustain is really good. The guitar is equipped with a treble-bleed and other electronic shenanigans which allow an even output and maintained highs and bite across every position. This is the first guitar in which I use every position out of the 5 way switch. The roasted birdseye maple fretboard is really nicely figured, though I had less luck with the flame maple top. For the price I was expecting a less lackluster figuring. From certain angles it looks dull and flat, or really flamed from another perspective. Quite 3D looking actually. Overall and after 6 months of ownership, it really is the best guitar I ever had and played. Would buy another in a heartbeat if it was stolen.
“The new Neck-Thru models are an amazing step in the .strandberg* design, enhancing the ergonomic qualities of the instruments even further. With no “weak” spots in the entire tonal range, these new models are bound to expand your musical expression to new territories.”
