Boden Metal 6 Black Pearl (WMI)

SKU: BD6WD-17M-E-M-BP

This guitar has been replaced by a more recent model, but we have some remaining stock that is now up for grabs at a great deal! These guitars may have some finish flaws on the fretboard and finish damage on the back but are otherwise in perfect condition. The pictures here on the side are of the WMI production, but note that the information below pertains to the current model. For the full specs of the current model, see: Boden Metal 6 Black Pearl

During 2018, we transitioned from manufacturing at WMI in Korea to our own dedicated production line at the Premium Factory at PT Cort in Indonesia. The specs of the new guitars are the same with some minor changes:
– 7- and 8-string necks are laminated according to the original specs used at the start of the brand, with 4 and 6 layers carbon fiber respectively, and a walnut strip in between. The WMI necks have 2 carbon fiber laminates only.
– The gig bags have been improved, and in particular the front pocket is larger and fits our guitar stand or a 15” laptop. The WMI gig bags have a silghtly smaller pocket and different material.
– We now use 1/4” solid shaft pots for the non-Fishman equipped guitars. The WMI guitars used 6 mm split shaft across all production.
– Our initial production in Indonesia used roasted maple that has a lighter color, although we have since transitioned to a darker color. The WMI production used a darker color roasted maple.

Over-the-top brutal yet musically articulate and expressive

The Boden ‘Metal’

What makes it special?

Visually sleek and futuristic, the Metal model was designed for over-the-top metal sounds that are still articulate and expressive as well as being exceptionally versatile to cover various other genres of music. The model name certainly belies what is hidden beneath its shiny aggressive look. Underneath the metallic gloss finish, the body consists of American Basswood for a full-sounding midrange that emphasizes the low-mids and is complemented by a solid quarter-inch plain Maple top to provide a fast transient attack and high-end brilliance.

What does it do?

The neck features roasted Maple neck with Ebony fretboard for a fast and sleek feel as well as a meaty yet cutting sound. Combined with the Basswood/Maple body, this particular wood combination is very versatile but seems particularly well suited to high-gain applications with its big low-midrange for pulverizing metal rhythm sounds while providing the high-end cut and sizzle for high speed lead tones.

Who is it for?

Each Metal model features the innovative Fishman Fluence humbucker pickups that combine the power and clarity of active pickups with the organic sound and feel of passive pickups as well as superb single-coil tones, making it an incredibly versatile instrument for many other musical genres besides metal.

Unique Qualities

Anatomy of a Strandberg

There are many design elements and factors that comprise a .strandberg* guitar. Each aspect - from the materials and components used to the ergonomic design features - has been carefully thought out and implemented to produce a guitar that is light weight, easy to play and has a big woody organic sound. Explore these different aspects that set a .strandberg* guitar apart from the rest.

Headless

By removing weight from the headstock, your guitar can be made very light and yet balanced. You can play with greater comfort for longer.

Versatile Body Shape

The body shape provides multiple seated playing positions for maximum comfort and versatility.

Scale Lengths Adapted to You

A multi-scale design allows your wrist to remain relaxed throughout the range of play. A longer scale length for the heavier strings provide better tone, and shorter in the thinner strings better playability.

Patented Neck Profile

Our patented EndurNeck™ profile promotes a more correct playing position. The result: you can play longer, faster, better and avoid injury.

Space Age Materials

Our hunt for great tone and low weight led us to using aircraft grade aluminium and carbon fiber for maximum performance.

Proprietary Hardware

The custom .strandberg* hardware is a vital contributor to the tone of the instrument. Lightweight aircraft grade aluminium and tight coupling of components ensure that nothing prevents the strings' vibrations from entering the body.
