Jacob was intrigued after encountering a 7-string .strandberg* guitar while working with Adam Rafowitz of Arch Echo and met up with Ola Strandberg to discuss ideas. Jacob tested various .strandberg* instruments and went on to say: “Everything about the Strandberg design appeals to me. Not only are they visually stunning, unique, and slick, but they are also lightweight, supple, and feel incredible under the fingers”. It was only natural for Jacob and .strandberg* Guitars to cross paths by their shared vision for challenging the norms to create something unique for the present and the future.

Having been an avid fan of utilizing fewer strings, Jacob showed Ola his custom-made Taylor acoustic 5-string and this became the basis for the development of a custom 5-string Boden with DAEAD tuning. In a Guitar World magazine interview, Jacob describes the custom 5-string .strandberg* with great enthusiasm: “The range is the same as a six-string guitar, but the tuning differentiation gives me a ton of fresh ideas and enables me to cover more ground with fewer strings to cross. My 5-string uses the width of a 6-string neck, which means there is slightly more breathing room around each string, which I love. The neck is incredibly ergonomic, and the controls are super-intuitive – even to a slight electric guitar novice like me! I have loved every moment “noodling” around and jamming out on festival stages over the last couple of months. Most importantly – they just undefeated.”
