Baltimore-born guitarist Ben Towles is a driving force behind Greylotus, a melodic technical death metal band formed in 2018. Having picked up the guitar at age 8, his passion for music and technical exploration has evolved into a career influenced by legends like Tosin Abasi, Guthrie Govan, Devin Townsend, and Wes Hauch. Now 31, his journey is defined by intricate melodies and relentless precision.
Greylotus made a bold debut with their full-length album Dawnfall in 2022 via The Artisan Era Records, followed by the December 2024 release of their EP Motherwort. The band has toured extensively across North America, sharing stages with fellow Strandberg artists Abiotic and Sarah Longfield, along with performing at UK Tech-Fest in 2022, solidifying their reputation as a formidable force in the genre.
Embracing the innovative design and superior ergonomics of Strandberg guitars, Ben Towles has redefined his performance style, seamlessly melding technical mastery with dynamic live shows. His evolving artistry continues to push the boundaries of death metal, resonating with audiences worldwide.
“.strandberg* guitars are inarguably the easiest guitars I have ever had the pleasure of playing. They mold to the hands so perfectly well and give me so much motivation on and off the stage to continue to push the boundaries of my playing!”

Boden Standard NX 8 Charcoal
The Boden Standard Series guitars were developed to provide the same key features that our guitars are acclaimed for but with solid body construction, our own design pickups, and figured Maple top veneers to reduce costs and offer a line that delivers outstanding value as well as topflight performance. The solid body has a distinctively different kind of sound and response than the chambered body and it isn’t better or worse: just different and a matter of personal preference.
"Ben Towles is a great player who is always pushing his capabilities and trying to grow personally as well as artistically. This is showcased with his hard work with his band Greylotus and his dedication to pushing himself on his instrument."
