#14 – Kohei Murakami
Posted by ola_strandberg on Apr 3, 2012
Kohei attended the .strandberg* Tokyo workshop in February 2011 and placed his order shortly thereafter. He was kind enough to let it appear at not only at NAMM 2012, but also at MusikMesse Frankfurt 2012. Check out the .strandberg* YouTube channel for a series of clips that demonstrate its total versatility, not only in terms of sound, but also in terms of looks. It is in the hands of shredders, fusion heroes and bluesmen alike, all enjoying it and all looking completely at home.
The mahogany core does a lot to contribute to this versatility, while the Swamp Ash wings lend themselves to a slightly shreddier sound. The Alumitone pickups bring an airiness and transparency to the sound that exposes the material choices and sets the stage for all kinds of sounds.
Kohei himself attended MusikMesse and took delivery of it there.
Here are just a few of the clips:
The careful viewer will notice that the neck is different between the clips – at NAMM, it is featured with a Rosewood fingerboard neck but at MusikMesse, the neck has been replaced with one featuring a Cocobolo fingerboard. This was due to an unfortunate mix-up in the build process, which was naturally corrected!
